Ekaterina Tkachenko – Polimoda

About the designer

This is how what the young designer says about her work : ‘ The collection was was inspired by Russian inuits called Chukchi, notorious figure of Russian president and works by artists Henry Darger and Grayson Perry. Inuits’ primitive furry costumes- jumpsuits- are juxtaposed with classical tailor-made men’s jackets, all interpreted as one of the colourful stories about Vivian girls. I experimented a lot with faux fur and neoprene, the last was once used as the material for classical sartorial costume. A special digital print for the textile was developed by superposition of vivid water-colour works by Henry Darger and my own drawing of the president’s face. The print was used on neoprene and cotton. The collection is all about self-protection, escapism and irony’.
